unidentified (China) 45 sets separated (thoracopagus – 48% survived separation) prior to 1994

27 sets reported in China since 1949, 15 have undergone separation

30 pairs of conjoined twins were reported in Vietnam in a 5 year time period, all in 3 provinces around Ho Chi Minh City.
In 1987, Tu Du Obstetrical and Gynecological Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, reported that at least 5+ sets had been born each year since 1975 in their hospital alone.

I haven’t counted either of the above statistics in the total count, because I am sure they overlap each other and may include sets already listed.

  1. I was a Siamese twin born may 15, 1975. Marcia and Michelle McKee in Phoenix, Arizona. Maricopa county hospital. My sister did not survive. She died 5 mins after they separated us on May 17th. parents Michael McKee and Debra Willis

  2. I am Margarita Acosta, the mother of Mary & Lucy Acosta, born 12.13.1979 and died the next day on 12.14.79, they were on a respirator immediately after birth by c-section. They were separated after death to research how their organs were united. I remember there was only one heart in between them. But they shared other organs, I think the liver and maybe another smaller one. We baptized them at the hospital and buried them and I still visit them often there and bring flowers. I know they are my angels. I still cry about it. rignt now… God bless them all!
